Bases !!

Since term 2 Alex has been telling me about "bases" a game they play at school. He explained that certain kids have a base which the other kids have to collect gumnuts, bark, rocks, honeysuckle  or whatever currency is required to visit the said base !! His pockets are often full of these things, as is his school bag !

taken a few months ago, preparing for "matt's base" !

Well on Monday after school, Darcy and Alex asked us to go and check out THEIR base ... he finally has his own ! Ha ha ! So we walk through the sports oval, and deep into the bush to find their base.... it really was the cutest thing ! A huge rock full of the treasures they had collected !

Alex & Darcy at "the Base " !!

Such a lucky boy to be growing up in the bush like this....still find the game very odd but they all play it so it must be fun !!

  1. Is it a game the kids invented themselves? I'm intrigued. I can't think of better way to get acquainted with all things natural! Alex is lucky to have such a natural bush setting as his school playground - think of all the city kids with nothing but hot hard (unforgiving) asphalt!!

  2. Yes it is a game they made up... k-6 seem to be equally entertained by the game ! he came home all excited the other day as he had his first customer from a boy in year 2 !! Seems Alex had bark which the other boy needed so he swaped it for some gumnuts !!! ! It really is funny !!!
