Alex got his permission slip to go on his
farm excursion last term and has been quite obsessed with it. We have had the note on the fridge, which gets looked at regularly and have had many discussions about the fact that he will be going to a farm on a bus !!!! Well today was THE DAY!!! I was shaken awake at 6am telling me it was time to go as it was 8 am !! For a moment i actually thought i'd somehow slept in !! After breakfast he got dressed and while i was doing up his laces he said "i'm going to miss you mum" ( dont know how long he thought he was going to the farm for !!) We got to school at 8am and were one of the first there, he looked around and said "mum the bus has gone".... he was looking so worried and sad, then the bus arrived and alot more kids arrived - happy boy again !!! They lined up, said goodbye to mummies then got on the bus...he sat in the front row !!! I waved goodbye, slightly worried but more so happy for him !

He was so happy, telling me all the things he saw and did..... and the best part ??? Yep the bus !!!
I loved school excursions. The best part?....Mum would take us to Franklins and we'd pick out a few special snacks to take. It was one of the rare times when we could have a popper and a sweet treat (usually a Wagon Wheel) in our lunch box! I imagine there aren't many kids these days who would be excited about that. Some kids I teach have a popper every day (but they have holes in their teeth too).
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Alex had a great day...and the front seat! That's where I always liked to sit on the bus too.
PS Where was the farm?
Michelle, he loved it ! My friend and i packed their lunch boxes full of fruit and sandwiches ect, (which came home empty !!) I asked him if he wanted an apple juice and he said no !! He was quite happy with his treat - a ginger kiss cake bar ! Funny boy ! He tells me about the things a few kids bring everyday - it is pretty shocking , chips, juices and more ! His lunch box although healthy is soooo boring ! A sandwich, banana, apple, popcorn and water ! He has a friend who eats salads with dressings, pastas, ect ... hopefully he will get more adventurous as he grows !
